Architecture meets Art: A Sustainable Vision

nur für Incom-Mitglieder

The renowned artist Tony Cragg, known for his impressive sculptures and influential artistic career, opens the doors to his sculpture park in Wuppertal, a gem in the world of art. Tony Cragg, with numerous achievements and an impressive resume, now offers a unique opportunity for architecture students to unfold their visions in this inspiring environment.

The Wuppertal Sculpture Park is not only a showcase for Cragg's art but also a place that attracts visitors from around the world. Nestled in a picturesque natural setting, this park provides a unique backdrop for artistic expression and creativity.

The task is to design an innovative modular manufacturing facility before entering the sculpture park.

The multi-story artist's factory is intended to be a creative sanctuary dedicated to artists of all disciplines. Various floors will house numerous studios, providing space for painters, sculptors, writers, and other artists. It will also include inspiring communal spaces where artists can exchange ideas and inspire each other.

Cozy rooms for accommodation and rejuvenation will be available, allowing artists to work and stay in the factory without losing their creative energy. Guests will have the opportunity to observe the artists at work and participate in tours to experience the artistic process up close.

This artist's factory is a vibrant place that celebrates the diversity of art and provides artists with an inspiring environment to unleash their talents while offering guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of creativity.

Emphasis is placed on inclusion, with a focus on integrating people with disabilities. Students are encouraged to develop solutions that appeal to artists and visitors with varying abilities. All forms of art are welcome, and the inclusion of diverse perspectives is of utmost importance.

The works created in the factory will be exhibited in temporary pavilions in the sculpture park. These pavilions serve not only as exhibition spaces but also as retreats, especially in bad weather, to enjoy art in peace.

Students are invited to design the factory, pavilions, and retreats in the context of the exhibition and existing sculptures. Additionally, students have the unique opportunity to develop and present their own artwork. Photography, sculptures, digital art, drawings... all are welcome. Personal emotions and artistic visions should be an integral part of all designs and works.

Special attention is given to sustainability and innovative presentation possibilities. The use of various materials, digital technologies, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence is explicitly welcomed to promote forward-thinking and environmentally conscious solutions.

I look forward to innovative ideas and creative concepts that will enrich the connection between art, architecture, and nature in the sculpture park. Seize this extraordinary opportunity to turn your artistic and architectural vision into reality.
