Computational Composite Pavilion

nur für Incom-Mitglieder

Welcome to the Computational Composite Pavilion workspace, a challenging and engaging summer semester experience that will put your knowledge and skills to the test. This course builds upon the previous semester, where we had the opportunity to develop prototypes of a novel composite material by fusing plywood and polymer. During this upcoming semester, we will advance our research by selecting one of the mentioned prototypes and test its effectiveness by constructing a full-scale pavilion (1:1 scale).

Throughout the course, we will explore a range of exciting topics, including computational and algorithmic design, biomimetics, composite materials, robotic manufacturing, large-scale additive manufacturing, lightweight structure design, and mixed reality. Additionally, you will be introduced to cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools that are revolutionizing the field.

The course will consist of approximately a dozen students, who will be divided into three equally sized groups of around four individuals. Each group will work on and develop their own pavilion design until the midterm presentation. Afterward, only one design will be selected to move forward into the fabrication and assembly phase.

Enriching the Studio's program is the Elective course Computational Design II,  which will provide you with the knowledge and skills to use Grasshopper for Rhino and associated tools that can enhance your algorithmic design capabilities.

Join us for an exciting and rewarding experience where you will push the boundaries of innovation and creativity, and take your skills to the next level.
