The location of the project is at Donaustraße 96, 12043 Berlin, Neukölln, south of Berlin. On the ground floor, there is a Lidl supermarket with its main entrance on Donaustraße.
I propose to create a social and sports area on the rooftop of the building. After conducting an initial analysis of the surroundings, I observed common activities that people frequently engage in within this area.
Additionally, I propose adding a volume of housing to address the housing shortage in Berlin and to create an exchange of space in the area.
The building design aims to preserve the supermarket and parking areas, leaving the first two levels unchanged. Above them, the new part of the building will begin.
On the second floor, a youth center will be created, providing space for various activities for young people, as well as for working parents to leave their children. This addresses the large number of young people visible in the area who engage in sports and other activities.
The third floor will incorporate a gym, connected to the sports activities observed in the surroundings. This is directly linked to the fourth floor, which will feature a soccer field, a recurring activity in the area. The height was designed to suit the uses of each level: 2.3 meters for the parking levels, 3 meters for the intermediate levels such as the youth center, and 9.8 meters for the soccer field.
Regarding the building's structure, the proposal includes attaching an arched steel framework to the existing building, which will be replicated along its length and support each level. This structure and design were conceived to focus on the intersection of two main streets, orienting the attention of both.
